Virtusa Listed as Sample Vendor in Two Categories of Gartner® Hype Cycle™ for Life Science Research and Development

Company recognized among eight vendors in two categories of 2021 report

SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. – (February 16, 2022) – Virtusa today announced that it has been identified as a Sample Vendor in two areas of the Gartner Hype Cycle for Life Science Research and Development, 2021. With the report focusing on healthcare and life science digital transformation and innovation, Virtusa was mentioned in the Trial Simulation and RWD-Based Trials categories. [1]

Trial simulation is critical in life sciences because as digital technology matures and becomes pervasive within clinical development organizations, clinical and IT leaders must move from operational analytics to predictive analytics and simulation approaches to better plan, optimize and execute clinical trials. Virtusa‘s synthetic data generator is used to generate cohorts and train predictive models for disease progression or risk stratification.

Real World Data (RWD) trials play a key role in optimizing trial activities, with applications that deliver improvements to patient recruitment and retention, protocol optimization, trial feasibility, and safety signal detection. As RWD becomes more readily available, life science companies and vendors are leveraging it to drive insights on patient safety, examine comorbidities and study drug interactions.

Virtusa enables clients to use various RWD sources - electronic health records, point of sale pharmacy data and payer claims data – which have proven to be extremely useful to clinical development in RWD analytics solutions.
