and delivering higher test automation efficiencies
A leading UK bank wanted to optimize its digital channels to cater to clients and prospects in small business segments. It sought to create consistent user experience across four standard browsers while ensuring compliance with DDA regulations. Virtusa's accessibility testing solution automated several key steps and enhanced reusability. In addition, a knowledge repository and document library was established to reduce knowledge gaps.
The Challenge
The existing process was manual and time-consuming (28 days for the test cycle), leading to inefficiencies and lack of timely coverage to enforce compliance. The bank sought to:
Make 40 functional and 37 confirmation screens DDA compliant
Eliminate errors and high dependency on manual efforts, to reduce the testing cycle time
The Solution
Virtusa leveraged JAWS and Validator W3 to develop an automated testing solution that helped the client create an accessible website, compliant with DDA and AA WCAG 2.0 guidelines.
70% user stories were automated using QTP. WCAG2.0 test reporting template was also designed. The knowledge repository and document library helped create reusable assets and reduce knowledge gaps. Key improvements to the website included:
Improved accessibility of information on webpages for all users
Consistent style of presentation and navigation throughout the application
Availability of alternate and device-agnostic access
Sufficient color contrast to support disabled people in accessing the application
Removal of Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) and provision for customized style sheets intended for users with visual disability
The Benefit
The bank achieved 100% compliance for the screens and significantly improved testing efficiency.
100% automation of the testing cycle
70% user stories automated
Zero leakage in UAT
