To provide certification and multi-skill program for students
Vijayawada, 18th March, 2008: Virtusa Corporation (NASDAQ: VRTU) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada, to provide certification and multi-skill programs for students and help the college align its curriculum with information technology (IT) trends. The MoU, which was signed by Mr. Keith Modder, Executive Vice President & Managing Director, Asian Operations–Virtusa, and Dr. K. R. K. Prasad, Principal, Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada, seals the commitment of the two organizations to provide state-of-the-industry education.
The MoU envisages special lectures, a project bank for students, and student projects at Virtusa facilities, with the goal of enhancing student skills and employability. Siddhartha students will interact with experts from Virtusa, and its faculty will benefit from Virtusa training. Virtusa will be open for campus visits to give students firsthand experience in an IT firm.
The relationship will also help align Siddhartha’s curriculum with IT industry standards and technology trends, better equipping students with the right skills when they step into the professional IT world.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Keith Modder said, “The objective of Virtusa’s MoU with Siddhartha Engineering College is to promote effective learning practices that enable students to develop state-of-the-industry skills. Through our Campus Reach initiative, Virtusa is committed to improving students’ employability and productivity in the global knowledge-based economy”.
Dr. K. R. K. Prasad, Principal of Siddhartha Engineering College, added, “The relationship with Virtusa is a milestone in our program to provide industry-oriented courseware, technology and facilities for our students. The Virtusa campus visits will give our students a first-hand feel of the industry. Virtusa is opening new opportunities for our students, and we will benefit greatly from this partnership.”

Velgapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College popularly known as Siddhartha Engineering College and VRSEC was started in 1977, the first private Engineering College in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The institution is ideally located in a vast expanse of 40 acres of land on the out skirts of Vijayawada city at a distance of about 6 kms from the city centre. The departmental buildings are located in close proximity of each other with wide open spaces all around. The National board of Accreditation awarded Accreditation grades for a period of 3 years, in respect of Mechanical Engineering, civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communications Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering. The college was granted Autonomous Status by UGC.
