Medtronic automates lifecycle management to expand patient engagement

Did you know the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are among the leading causes of death globally, responsible for 32% of all deaths or approximately 18 million annually? That is a staggering number for a technology-dominated world. One of the ways to save lives is to diagnose and treat CVD at its initial stages – that means pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices.

This is where Medtronic, a global medical devices company, comes into the picture. Medtronic’s implantable devices are supported by an ecosystem of external-to-the-body devices, such as remote monitors and services that include programmers attached to HCPs (Healthcare Providers) and hospital locations. The company is on a mission to develop robust Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) to deploy, maintain, and manage the return of devices.
Medtronic joined hands with Virtusa to accomplish its mission to expand seamless patient engagement. The role of Medtronic is to reimagine processes and Virtusa’s role is to deploy workflow optimization through automation.

The partnership has already reaped early successes, including automating two of five identified workflows, increasing patient outreach by three times, and accelerating patient outreach from 60 days to 14 days
