The Component Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing components or sub-systems that meet functional, technical, and performance requirements. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, product, manufacturing, and quality teams to create detailed component models, drawings, and specifications while ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational guidelines. Key responsibilities include designing components based on engineering requirements and system constraints, creating detailed 2D/3D models and technical documentation using CAD tools, and ensuring designs meet performance, safety, manufacturability, and cost targets. The designer also develops prototypes, evaluates design feasibility, and participates in design reviews. Additionally, the role involves analyzing technical requirements, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers to integrate components into larger systems, conducting tolerance analysis, material selection, and structural optimization. Supporting testing and validation activities, analyzing test results, and iterating designs to improve performance are also essential tasks. The designer must maintain accurate documentation, manage engineering change requests, and ensure version control and traceability throughout the component lifecycle. Cross-functional collaboration with product teams, suppliers, and manufacturing teams is critical to ensure design manufacturability and cost efficiency. Required qualifications include 2–5+ years of experience in component or product design, proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360, and a strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design principles. The role also demands the ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
