Virtusa Announces Winners of Virtual Hackathons Focused on AI Innovation

SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. – (November 17, 2020) – Virtusa Corporation (NASDAQ GS: VRTU), a global provider of digital strategy, digital engineering, and IT services and solutions that help clients change and disrupt markets through innovation engineering, today announced the winners of its NeuralHack Season Four and Business Cipher hackathon events.

Virtusa’s NeuralHack and Business Cipher events support future innovators by harnessing advancements in user experience and technologies across the technical stack to create digital solutions that drive superior customer experience, engineering, productivity, and societal benefit. The winners have been offered career opportunities at Virtusa and were recognized for achievements in building AI-based prototypes for the banking and financial services, healthcare, insurance, and energy industries.

Over 51,000 students from top business and engineering schools registered for the competition to collaborate and build a total of 24 AI-driven solution prototypes within twelve weeks. The prototypes focused on loan default prediction, fraudulent click prediction, fraudulent transactions prediction, product recommendation, and credit card default prediction in banking and financial services; diabetes prediction in healthcare; purchase protection in insurance; and energy consumption prediction in energy.

  • The winners for banking and financial services are Viswanathan T S from the India Institute of Management Raipur, Sateesh Kashiraju and Patha Abhilash from CMR Institute of Technology, Keerthi Chamarthi from MLR Institute of Technology, and Jagmohan Bisht from Graphic Era Institute of Technology.

  • The winners for healthcare and life sciences are Utkarash Dev from Goa Institute of Management, Vignesh Thakkar from India Institute of Management Kashipur, Vishal Kumar from RNS Institute of Technology, and Alaparthi Naga Bhaskar from SRKR Engineering College.

  • The additional winners across industries are Abhinav Prasun from the National Institute of Technology Patna, Himanshu Patel from National Institute of Technology Uttarakan, Divyansh Bhojane from Medi-Caps Institute, Karan Paul Kali from Prasad V. Potluri Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Sandeep SJ from SJB Institute of Technology, Akshay Gulati from Bhagwan Parashuram Institute of Technology, Sarthak Rawal from Zakir Hussain Delhi College, Abhiraj Sohane from IPS Academy, and Sai Sowmya Velamuri from CMR Technical Campus

A panel of Virtusa judges evaluated the winning prototypes based on how it’s intended use makes a difference through technology, collaboration, creativity, and competition. The prototypes will continue further development to become assets within Virtusa’s Digital Transformation Studio (DTS). DTS is a proprietary platform and approach that combines Virtusa’s engineering tools, reusable industry assets, and certified agile teams to increase the delivery speed and reduce the costs of business-critical digital transformation projects.
