Company recognized for commitment to service excellence and process improvement
WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – (February 12, 2013) – Virtusa Corporation (NASDAQ: VRTU), a global IT services company that offers a broad range of information technology services, including IT consulting, technology implementation and application outsourcing, today announced that its Advanced Technology Centers (ATCs) in Sri Lanka and Chennai, India, have been appraised with the prestigious Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI V1.3) Level 5 rating, the highest level of maturity in the CMMI framework. In 2011, the company’s ATC in Hyderabad was appraised at Maturity Level 5.
CMMI is a process improvement model used to improve a company’s ability to manage project deliveries to guarantee predictable results. CMMI’s process levels are regarded as the standard in the industry for evolutionary paths in software and systems development and management.
“We are delighted to achieve CMMI level 5 appraisal, which recognizes Virtusa’s commitment to continuous process improvement and quality,” said Kris Canekeratne, chairman and CEO of Virtusa.
Virtusa Global Innovation Process (GIP) embodies lightweight software engineering best practices from SCRUM/XP, EPF, CMMI, ITIL, ISO 27001, BS25999-2 and years of Virtusa learning. The assessment was independently conducted by KPMG India and was accepted by the CMMI Institute. This milestone not only credits Virtusa’s commitment towards process maturity but also its approach towards delivery excellence and service quality. This accreditation is imperative as more and more global customers including government customers require their software implementations to be of highest quality standards.
This appraisal is also a result of Virtusa’s focus on delivering business results by modernizing, rationalizing and consolidating the critical applications that support its clients' core business processes. It employs advanced processes like Agile to ensure the right system is delivered the first time. This approach enables Virtusa to serve industry leaders as they seek to improve their customers' experience, expand market reach, improve time to market and lower costs.
