Job description
8+ years of experience in Design, code, and test high-priority changes using COBOL, JCL, and DB2 for both batch and online (CICS) environments.
System Analysis: Analyze user requirements and business specification documents (BRDs) to create detailed technical design (LLD) documentation.
Batch & Online Management: Implement and modify JCL scripts to manage batch processing, job scheduling, and system utilities efficiently.
Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve application bottlenecks to optimize system performance and ensure high availability.
Production Support: Provide high-level troubleshooting for critical production abends, performing root cause analysis (RCA) and on-call support as needed.
Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior developers through code reviews, technical walkthroughs, and knowledge transfer (KT) sessions.
Required Technical Skills
Core Languages: Advanced proficiency in COBOL (batch and online) and JCL (Job Control Language).
Subsystems: Extensive experience with DB2 (SQL, stored procedures), VSAM, and CICS transaction processing.
IBM Utilities: Proficiency in IDCAMS, IEBGENER, DFSORT, and Syncsort.
Debugging Tools: Hands-on experience with tools like Xpediter, Abend-AID, or File-AID.
Change Management: Expertise in version control systems such as Endevor, ChangeMan, or ISPW.
Scheduler Tools: Familiarity with job schedulers like CA7, Control-M, or TWS.
