Qualification
We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator DBA with strong hands on expertise in Oracle to PostgreSQL database migrations The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in Oracle and PostgreSQL database administration and be capable of executing migration projects with minimal supervision This role requires a mix of DBA scripting and problem solving skills along with a strong understanding of data integrity performance tuning and cloud database best practices Key Responsibilities Plan and execute database migration projects from Oracle to PostgreSQL on prem or cloud Perform detailed assessments of Oracle schemas PL SQL code stored procedures and triggers for migration feasibility Use tools like ora2pg AWS DMS or custom scripts to facilitate smooth migration Convert PL SQL code to equivalent PL pgSQL or compatible PostgreSQL syntax Optimize and tune PostgreSQL databases post migration for performance and scalability Ensure data integrity accuracy and performance during and after the migration Monitor and maintain the PostgreSQL and Oracle environments as required Automate tasks related to migration monitoring and maintenance using scripting Shell Python etc Work closely with application data and DevOps teams to ensure minimal downtime and successful deployment Required Skills and Qualifications 2 6 years of experience as a DBA with at least 1 2 years of hands on experience in Oracle to PostgreSQL migration Strong working knowledge of Oracle 12c 19c and PostgreSQL 9 x and above Experience with ora2pg SQL Developer AWS Schema Conversion Tool or other database migration utilities Solid understanding of SQL PL SQL and PL pgSQL development and conversion techniques Proficiency in performance tuning indexing and query optimization Hands on experience in backup recovery user management and security administration Familiarity with Linux Unix environments and shell scripting Preferred Skills Experience with cloud database services AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL Azure Database for PostgreSQL Understanding of database replication and high availability e g streaming replication logical replication Exposure to DevOps and CI CD pipelines involving database deployments Experience with data validation and reconciliation post migration Knowledge of other database platforms MySQL SQL Server MongoDB is a plus Certification in Oracle PostgreSQL is an advantage Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem solving skills Good communication and documentation abilities Ab.
