The Challenge

Our client, a leading Dubai-based global bank, embarked on a three-year digital transformation journey.

Adopting a cloud platform was one of the key catalysts to achieve the desired business outcome.  The bank chose Microsoft Azure as the preferred cloud platform to cut down the cost of data centers. Key business objectives the client sought to achieve were to:

  • Refresh 35% of the existing hardware
  • Reduce capital expenditure significantly
  • Achieve compliance, establish stricter governance and security protocols aligned to UAE Central Bank standards
The Solution

As a strategic partner, Virtusa crafted and implemented an enterprise-grade cloud foundation framework to implement the Microsoft Azure platform.

The implementation included N/W, Security, IAM and Policies, ExpressRoute, Azure Security Center, Billing, Subscriptions, RG, and Monitoring.  Within a month, Virtusa performed macro-analysis, assessment, and dependency discovery for 180+ applications running in the x86 non-prod environment.  Before migration to the cloud, compliance with applicable data residency laws for the 110+ DBs was ensured by masking personally identifiable information.  In the next four months, using Microsoft Azure Site Recovery and Microsoft Azure Migrate, Virtusa successfully migrated 180+ apps running on a non-production environment from on-premises datacenter to Azure Cloud.
