Reimagining STEM education for every learner

Strengthening science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning through university partnerships, innovation programs, and community driven initiatives

We believe a chance at a better future begins with access to meaningful learning experiences

Every child deserves the opportunity to dream big and learn confidently, and that journey begins in the classroom. At the Virtusa Foundation, we’re committed to transforming education with modern, immersive, and tech‑enabled learning experiences that give every student a fair chance to thrive. By working closely with communities and educators, we’re building inclusive learning ecosystems that empower young minds to explore, innovate, and pursue future careers in science and technology.

How we expanded STEM capability across higher education and community learning

To widen access to STEM education and build industry‑ready talent, we strengthened our academic partnerships, advanced technical programs, and community‑focused STEM initiatives in FY25. Through university collaborations, curriculum development, faculty training, and hands‑on mentorship, we helped learners across India, Sri Lanka, and global markets gain real‑world skills, digital tools, and industry‑aligned training.

This progress came to life through several key initiatives:

  • The Virtusa‑Driven M.Tech Program engaged 1,345 students across seven partner universities through live projects, technical workshops, hackathons, and structured mentorship.
  • The Higher Education Program (HEP) with IIT Madras and BITS Pilani supported 80+ employees since 2022, with 17 graduates strengthening their advanced STEM capabilities.
  • The Catapult Program attracted 18,000+ applicants globally, providing advanced training and international career pathways for high‑potential STEM graduates.
  • The Jatayu national ideathon connected more than 12,000 engineering students across 95+ colleges, allowing learners to work with Virtusa mentors on real‑world problem‑solving.
  • Community initiatives strengthened STEM access with upgraded science labs, digital classrooms, and 300+ scholarships for academically strong students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

One example of how we supported STEM access in schools

At Lady Willingdon Higher Secondary School in Chennai, we worked closely with the school and the Government of Tamil Nadu’s Namma School Namma Ooru Palli program to expand access to future‑ready STEM education.

We funded the construction of more than 6,600 sq. ft. of new Biology, Chemistry, and Physics laboratories, along with 4,600 sq. ft. of kitchen and dining space to strengthen student health and well‑being. We also provided 554 sports uniforms and covered project management consultancy costs to ensure quality execution.

These upgrades helped create a safer, more immersive science learning environment for students from neighborhoods such as Mylapore, Kannagi Nagar, Sathya Nagar, and Perumbakkam, many of whom are first‑generation learners.

Through this partnership, we reinforced our commitment to building equitable, tech‑enabled learning ecosystems that give every student the confidence to explore and grow.
