The challenge

The client faced several key challenges, including:

  • Inefficient legacy infrastructure: Their existing infrastructure was outdated and unable to support the scalability and performance required for modern applications. 
  • High operational costs: Maintaining and managing their legacy systems significantly burdened their IT budget. 
  • Limited agility: The organization needed help to innovate and adapt to changing market conditions due to the constraints of its legacy infrastructure. 
  • Security concerns: Protecting their sensitive customer data was a top priority, and the organization needed to ensure that its cloud environment met the highest security standards.

The solution

To overcome these challenges, the client partnered with Virtusa to modernize its infrastructure, databases, and business applications on AWS. We implemented the following solutions:

  • Containerization: EC2 instances were containerized and deployed using Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) to improve scalability, portability, and manageability.
  • Database migration: Database workloads were migrated to RDS and Aurora databases, offering enhanced performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Application modernization: Three-tier applications were modernized by adopting a microservices architecture and leveraging serverless technologies.
  • Security and design frameworks: Implementing strong security measures and design frameworks to build new serverless applications hosted in S3 to protect the client's sensitive data.
