Healthcare and life sciences are two industries that undergo constant evolution. While payers and providers try to keep up with new technological advancements, regulations, and mass amounts of data, they must also adapt to customer expectations.

Today, people want companies to not only meet their needs but anticipate them. Companies must know their customers and engage in personalized communications to form a relationship and build brand loyalty. How can healthcare and life sciences companies manage information flow and remain agile while engaging customers with personal, digital touchpoints? By migrating to the cloud.

Success Story

Simulated data leads to real-world treatment strategies for subarachnoid hemorrhage.

The University of Texas Health Science Center's (UTHealth) mission is to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances, and model best practices in clinical care and public health. While researching to find the best treatment and management strategies for subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), they recognized that healthcare data alone would not be enough. Intrigued by the value that computer simulations and synthetic data could add significantly to their discovery, they reached out to Virtusa. We partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Cardinal Health to simulate 30,000+ electronic health records and leveraged vLife® to uncover hidden trends so that UTHealth could identify treatment strategies applicable in the real world.

Success Story

Combating Type 2 Diabetes with simulated electronic health records (EHR) and scalable infrastructure.

Indiana Bioscience Research Institute (IBRI) uses collaboration to discover and develop solutions that improve patients’ health from diabetes, cardiometabolic disease, and poor nutrition. The data IBRI was using to drive research had specific use restrictions and internal bias. After recognizing the need to enhance data sources and implement a system that could sustain large amounts of data, they enlisted Virtusa to help. We partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Cardinal Health to assess and optimize simulated electronic health records (EHRs) to match type 2 diabetes (T2D)-related EHRs and build the infrastructure needed to support the data usage.
