The ideal candidate will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of complex changes, from understanding community proposals to patch development, testing, submission, and iteration until upstream acceptance.
Responsibilities:
Lead design and development of major Git features (e.g., submodule encoding, config-based hooks).
Collaborate with the Git open-source community and maintainers.
Review, submit, and update patches based on community feedback.
Ensure code aligns with upstream standards and project vision.
Create comprehensive test cases and validate features via Gits testing framework.
Provide technical guidance to supporting developers and testers.
Required Skills:
5+ years of experience in systems or open-source development in C.
Deep understanding of Git internals and source code structure.
Strong experience submitting and maintaining upstream patches.
Familiarity with Git mailing list workflows (e.g., git send-email, git format-patch).
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in distributed development environments.
