Job Description: Storage Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
Configure and maintain both on-premises and cloud-based storage environment, ensuring availability and optimal performance.
Mange resources within NetApp storage and cloud storage solutions, including handling updates, monitoring, and compliance.
Implement file access solution such as Distributed File System (DFS) to facilitate seamless data access across geographically dispersed locations.
Ensure high availability of data through redundancy, replication, and efficient data synchronization strategies.
Deploy and manage NetApp Cloud Volume ONTAP (CVO) instances, ensuring that cloud storage solutions meet organization standards for performance and cost management.
Implement data management policies and storage tiering to optimize storage utilization and enhance cloud performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate CVO with other cloud services and applications as needed.
Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning for storage systems to optimize data access speeds and storage utilization.
Conduct regular assessments of storage performance and capacity, identifying areas for improvement and recommending changes to storage configurations.
Work proactively to forecast storage needs and implement solutions to scale resources in line with business growth.
Leverage Powershell and other scripting tools to automate routine storage tasks, monitor storage health, and support disaster recovery plans.
Develop scripts for operational efficiency, ensuring consistency in storage management and reducing manual workloads.
Document procedures, configuration, and troubleshooting guides to support internal knowledge sharing and best practices.
Education:
Degree in a related discipline or advanced degree, preferred. On-the-job experience will be reviewed for applicability.
Certification in NetApp NCDA, Azure preferred.
Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge of NetApp ONTAP architecture, including storage protocols such as NFS, CIFS/SMB, and iSCSI.
Familiarity with NetApp storge features like snapshot copies, snapmirror for data protection and disaster recovery.
Understanding of storage tiering and data lifecycle management within NetApp environments.
Proficient in deploying, configuring, and optimizing NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO) within cloud platforms like Azure.
Experience:
5+ years of experience with NetApp Cloud Volume ONTAP and related storage technologies.
Strong background in implementing and managing Distributed File System (DFS) in enterprise settings.
Experience with large-scale data migration, problem solving skills, and strong troubleshooting especially in cloud storage and data replication scenarios.
