| Tom
Gardam - Director Test
Engineering |
|
 Tom
Gardam is a seasoned professional
with over 20 years in Information
Technology including software
development, consulting, and
test engineering. Tom is currently
the Director of Test Engineering
for Pegasystems, Inc (NASDAQ:
PEGA), the leader in unified
process and rules technology.
In addition to his ongoing
responsibility for test engineering
on Pegasystems’ award
winning, standards based Business
Process Management (BPM) suite,
Tom was instrumental in the
creation of Pega’s highly
transformative offshore model.
Hecurrently oversees a blended
(onsite / offshore) team of
more than 60 test engineering
professionals that drive all
test engineering (test design,
automation, execution, and
research initiatives) within
Pega. By effectively leveraging
the blended model, Pegasystems
has been able to achieve a
significant improvement in
product quality and in particular
an improvement in defect detection
efficiency, which now meets
the 85% standard that world
class enterprise software
companies strive for.
In
addition to his current
role, Tom was previously
Director of Software Services
at Pega, where he was responsible
for the installation and
support of implementations
in the Western Americas
Region (US), Mexico and
Australia at the onset of
deployment. Prior to Pegasystems,
Tom held several technology
leadership positions, primarily
in the retail, travel, and
transportation industries
including head of enterprise
architecture for Maersk
Sealand. |

As you know, there has been a phenomenal
rise in outsourcing software product development
to offshore destinations in recent years.
Research shows that over half of enterprise
software vendors successfully leverage
the global model to get the most out of
their R&D investments.
However, Offshoring does not always translate
into the anticipated cost savings and
productivity gains. A dizzying array of
choices confronts software executives
in achieving that value.
This seminar for software product executives
will give you insight into how offshore
partnerships can best deliver the desired
payback quickly. Tom Gardam and Bart Hanlon
will share their intimate experiences
with the offshore model. They will discuss
their Transformational Approach to executing
Software Development, Quality Assurance,
Professional Services and full Software
Lifecycle Support.
Their perspectives will reflect both
a young, fast growing organization evolving
to the “next level” (PanGo),
and a mature leading edge publicly traded
software company (Pega).
When it comes to Offshoring -- How do
you get started? How do you recruit quality
engineers and retain teams? How do you
stay in sync halfway around the world?
How do you get to target ROI in the first
year? And how do you protect critical
IP?
